Purse

Here is a little purse made from pattern paper. Its just a small gift for those who love cute things. The whole purse and flower leaves were cut by Silhouette and due to it, the total time was less than 30 minutes to complete this purse.

Here is the pic:

Mini Effil Tower

In my last post I reviewed about Amelie's Accessories SVG Kit and also showed the Armoire Model, today I am showing you another cut model from the same kit. Its mini Effil tower, this model was a part of the Beautiful Gift Box but I made only the tower. It can be glued on a gift box to create a perfect gift Box.

I cut it using Studio Calico "Best in Show" Paper from its State Fair Collection which I got from Ujjwal few months back (It was so lovely that I couldn't use this paper before). Since the paper was double sided and was thicker than normal papers so it was great for this model.

Here is the finished model :

Dimension of the Model:
Height : little less than 13 cm
Width/Depth: 7 cm

Its lovely and I am planning to make more of it so that I can gift them. It uses only one A4 Sheet paper and I cut it using Silhouette SD, it took under 30 minutes to complete this model.

I also made 3 more Towers from different kind of papers to check the stability of the model, for instance I used 150 GSM Photo Paper, Medium Print Paper and Kodak Premium Inkjet Paper. The model looked great on each paper.

Here is a pic of all the four towers I made (Total time was under 1.5 hours for them all).

Armoire and a mini review of Amelie's Accessories SVG Kit

Few days back at Svgcuts.com, I saw a beautiful template of Amelie's Accessories SVG Kit, I loved it. I also tried to make myself one such but at the end due to work I left the idea. Also my theory is why reinvent the wheel?

So yesterday I purchased the kit with high hopes but the main disappointment was that it was meant for cricut only :( (The layout was meant for 12x12 mat while my Silhouette SD can only cut upto 8.5 inch wide). Though they have also privded SVG files for 12x6 mat but still if you want to cut the kit using Silhouette then you will need to do a bit of tweaking and modification.

I don't understand when SCAL is no longer providing support then why they have included files only for 12x12 as till now only Cricut is a economical 12x12 cutter, other cutting plotters which support 12x12 are way too costly.

Anyway, after some tweaking I was finally ready to try the first project, The Armoire. I made a similar Armoire previously without using Silhouette or Amelie's kit but it was time taking. Making more than one would take a lot of time. When I made the same armoire with Amelie's Kit it took less than an hour (excluding the time which I spent to tweak the SVG files). In this one hour time, I printed some page and then used the Silhouette SD to cut the 9 pages and glueing the whole thing.

The result was beautiful and since it was cut with machine so alignment was perfect. Here is the Pic:

My recommendation for Amelie's Accessories SVG Kit is that buy if you can do some editing in Silhouette Studio software. If you want a kit which is ready to go with Silhouette SD then its not that one. Took me around 2 hours to set the Armoire Files only. For Cricut, I can't say as I don't have cricut or SCAL. But the result is worth the efforts.

Tutorial - Creating Doilies

A Very easy method for creating doilies.

You will need a square piece of paper, a scissor and a pencil.

Step 1: Prepare the paper

Take a square piece of paper.

Step 2: Half Fold

Now half fold the paper to form a rectangle

Step 3: Again Half Fold

Half Fold again to form a square.

Step 4: Now another Fold

Fold one more time, but this time fold to make a triangle.

Step 5: Rounding Off

Round of the open corner of the triangle as shown in the above image.

Step 6: Designing the shapes

This is the most interesting step. You need to draw some symmetrical lines and shapes.

Step 7: Cutting

Cut the lines using scissor or whatever method you like.

Final Step: Unfolding

Unfold the paper and to make it straight keep it under a heavy book for some time. You doily is ready. You can create doilies of any size using this method.

Hope you liked the above method. Don't forget to share your creations.

My first handmade doily

I always admired those who use different kind of doilies in their projects. I also searched for some doily patterns but ended disappointed as its not easy to cut complex shapes, even with Silhouette SD. So I tried something new, something which I was doing back during school days. I cut doilies by hand using scissor.

And believe me the process is so simple that I was able to make the following doilies in less than 15 minutes without any special efforts. I will put steps in a day or two as I have to take pics of the steps. But for the reference here is the image of the doilies I made:

PS: I changed the layout of the blog. I hope it looks good.

Paper Size for Martha Stewart Full Page Border Punch Set

When I first got the Martha Stewart Full Page Border set I was not sure what size of Paper was ideal to have a perfect full page border. After lots of trial and error I found 5 inch was ideal but I wanted to have different size, then I did a little bit of net search and found some more sizes. After going through so many posts, forums etc. I thought its better to have a simple post for Paper Size so that in future people like me don't get in trouble.

So here is the basic list :

3.25 in / 8.25 cm
5 in / 12.7 cm
6.75 in / 17.15 cm
8.5 in / 21.59 cm
10.25 in / 26.04 cm
12 in / 30.48 cm

As you can see that the size increment should be of 1.75 in.

So enjoy and create your next masterpiece using Martha Stewart Full Page Border Punch.

Young Crafter's Unite Blog Hop

Today I am extremely happy to share with you that I am a part of Youngcrafter's Unite Blog Hop. This is my first blog hop and I am very much exited about it. I am also sure that there are possibilities of doing lot of mistakes :( (Forgive me if I made any).

Since my number is 2nd on this blog hop so you must have been brought from Marie's blog, if not then you can start this blog hop from her blog from the following link: legojenta.blogspot.com

Now the reason which makes me a young crafter, my age!!!! well just joking, though I am 27 but still I am not too young in terms of age. I am a young crafter because I caught this hobby only 3 years back and I am quite new to this hobby compared to all the creative crafters out there. So I am young and inexperienced in this field.

My Latest Project with my fav. stuffs:

First of all I want to share my fav. crafting stuffs, yes stuffs as I like more than one item. I love my Silhouette SD Machine, Martha Stewart Punches, My Steadler 48 Water Based Color Pencils, My Small Collection of Rubber Stamps and my latest purchase YourStory 12x12 Binder and Laminator. I love them all and try to use everything in my projects. I must admit that yourstory binder is a great machine and is worth every bucks spent on it. So Let me first present my latest project :

A Scrapbook for my friend's daughter (I missed her birthday so I will give it as a gift).

The Cover of the Scrapbook

I made the above cover using two 8.3 X 8.3 sheets then joined them and used my glue gun to put some glue in the spine area (I do not wanted to use readymade covers hence I made this custom one).

Pic of my glue gun and also how I added glue in the spine

Here are the Sheets Unbinded :

Binding using YourStory:
Binding Process, it takes less than 2 minutes to bind. So easy

Binded ScrapBook Inside Pages

Inside Pages of the Scrapbook

The Tags which I used to decorate the book (They are only a small part of the total tags used)
The Circle tags are Digital Stamps of sliekje which I printed black and white and then cut using Silhouette SD. I colored them using my Steadler Colored Pencils. The other tags are cut using Silhouette SD. The butterflies are cut from glossy paper using Martha Stewart's Butterfly Paper Punch.

I also used Martha Stewart Alphabet Punch to create this beautiful name of the sweet girl Ananya.

I also tried to create a video but unfortunetly my video shooting skills are less than a small kid so I skipped the Video. I hope these pics are good enough to show how the scrapbook looks. Thats all for my todays project.

My Fav. Project from past: My fav. project from past would definetly the Kirigami card of Notre Dame Cathedral which I made from the pattern of Yee. The cutting was very much intrinsic and I did all with my hands using Surgical Knife (I didn't have X-Acto Knife). It took my more than 15 days to cut every piece but the result was so beautiful that everyone who saw it asked me to make one for him, but it was not very easy so I politely refused everyone.

Here is the pic of the Kirigami Popup Card of Notre Dame Cathedral
