Monsoon fun!

 Hey Peeps!!

So this month has been all about the Monsoon season, I know we very much love this time of the year, as there is ample of rain, which brings along with it nice weather and lots of fun!!! and yes, not to forget that earthen fragrance  after the first rains, I so so so love it :)  (Pity that it did not rain the way it used to, in the Northern region this time, it's still too damm hot!!! )

Okay, so coming back to the challenge theme for this month,  which is Monsoon, there are a couple of things which tags along when we think of monsoons. Any guesses... ???
Okay, here's what I think.. Monsoon equals to rains, fun, lots of cuppa coffee, pakoras, raincoats, umbrella, muddy water and ohh yes, getting drenched in the rains!! What fun!

I took one of these elements, and made my tutorial around it. Come rains, and you will see a lot of bright and colorful umbrellas!!! Here's my very own 3D umbrella and a tutorial on how to make it too.. so sit back , relax and catch on!!

Here's what I made!

Isn't it looking pretty with all the vibrant colors??? Lets head over and see how did I make this one!

1. Take a couple of Pattern papers and cut out the circles with them, the circles should be of equal size (I too the sizzix circle die to die cut my circles)
2. Cut them in half and then I punched them alongside the cut out diameter with a punch to give in some shape.

I then folded them in half making sure that the pattern paper end is inside(make a nice crease here).

Once done for all the half circles, start gluing them together one by one and stop when you think that you like the umbrella. This is how mine looks after I pasted the half circles together and then added a little u shaped pipe beneath (can u guess what that U-shaped pipe is??? It's from the Frooti Tetra packs, so a little bit of recycling done tooo!!! )
I then added some flowers and pasted them on to the already made-before the card.
For the card: I first took the A4 cardstock and folded it. Then I took another A5 cardstock and embossed it. To make out a little, I distressed the edges using the Salty ocean distress ink. and added a die cut on the top before adding my 3D umbrella.
Now, it's very easy peasy to make !! right.. :)

And now comes the fun part. Since I had a couple of half circles left, I thought of making another card, but then, I thought, why not a 3D umbrella in complete.. so here's what I did...

Here's another pic from different angles!!! Ooo, I so loved this pretty little thing!

Here's my card and the teeny tiny little thing together..

I hope you will like my new love (of making 3D things) there are lots more to come!!!
So make one for yourself and enjoy this monsoon season!!

Altered photoframe!!!

 Hey Peeps,

This post is something altogether different than what the Theme is for the current month challenge!!!
I'm here with an altered photoframe!!! When I received this pretty 'FAMILY' photoframe from IMAGINATIONS,  I was clueless on how do I go about making it look altogether different and pretty!!! ALTERED ART is what came to my rescue!!!!
The moment I zeroed upon altered art, I knew that it has to be done all turquoise!!! This pretty color brings in a calming effect and is all soothing to the eyes! My favorite color!!! I'm so biased towards this color :)
But then, this was probably the first time I was doing it at a big scale and I was a little apprehensive, but when I started doing it, there was no looking back!!!

Here's what I did to the frame !!!

Lots of different things done and applied!!! All the flowers are handmade using the joy-craft dies!!!!

Here are a few closer shots of each panel!

Did you see the nice texture the frame has??? It has been done with Gesso and homemade texture paste, and yeah, I applied it all using the hands and needless to say... messy too is pretty for sure!!!

I pretty much love this feathery panel and that pretty quote... "This story means the world to me", Indeed, my family  means the world to me!! :)

Did you noticed that nice bunting on top adorned with the pearls.. I simply love it!

I hope that you liked this attempt of mine and I'm sure gonna explore this art more and more, for altered art is very very interesting !!!

Take care and Happy Crafting!

GDT POST - CHALLENGE #3 ANYTHING GOES WITH MONSOONS..

HI peeps

Monsoon is here... love rains !! who doesn't??
And we have on board with us our GUEST DESIGNER -  RUPA SWAMINATHAN from
TOFA - Together for Arts

Hello Crafters…
I am Rupa from Bangalore and I have been taking hobby classes from home, teaching various forms of paintings and murals for the last 10years and crafting has been my latest love and blogging my “current crush”!!! loving it
I have the pleasure of being the GD for Imaginations this month! The theme there is so close to my heart ”Anything goes with Monsoons”…who doesn’t like rains??? Today I have an altered mini burlap panel .

Firstly, I applied Distress stain( Picket fence) randomly on the panel and then with my home made texture paste, TCW mini bricks stencil went about creating textures. Colored the bricks using DI, (fired brick) and peeled paint to give a slightly “mossy” look and also walnut stain. Also applied some lime green acrylic paint on the edges to brighten up the panel.

I cut out the chipboard windows using IO die and heat embossed the window with white embossing powder(2 coats). Next is the window dressing…I took out some cheese cloth and misted it with mustard seed DI and made the curtains. Then stuck a lovely PP from DCWV stack 8 and fixed the window on the panel and the planter just below it! The panel was slowly coming to life!

Pic3
I then went around making a small trough for the widow to make the planter and heat embossed that too.Small flowers are made with TH tattered florals and leaves are using punches.

For the top of the panel, I laid a bed of feathers die cuts(Cheery Lynn) and some foliage and pebbles too! Then some hand made gardenias using Joy crafts die and the mini TH flowers.
I then stamped some butterflies on vellum using Kaiserkraft stamps and heat embossed them too in black and white. colored them with markers and fussy cut them..All the butterflies took their position on the panel .I then took some metal charms appropriate with monsoons…the umbrella and a tea pot(don’t you love a hot cuppa when it rains???) and hung it from the top using bakers twine.

The hand written quote is from google and to make it look like a scene just after rains, I used glossy accents to give the feel of water droplets on the entire panel! That completes the rain scene here…I have used white paper rope for the hanging.

Hope this inspires you for the current project and I enjoyed every minute of altering this panel of creative Thank you so much for this opportunity.

Happy Crafting and Recycling.

A great post with step by step instructions, awesome isn't it ?
I hope you all enjoyed the post.
Don't forget to play along with us for the current challenge Anything Goes with Monsoons

Monsoon Galore: #3 Anything Goes With Monsoons..

 Hey Peeps!!!

I'm sure that you all must be enjoying the monsoon season which also happens to be one of my fav ones!!!!
It's such an enjoyable time of the year when one can get a little drench in the rains and sit down with your loved ones for a nice chit chat session along with (and not to forget) a hot cup of tea with some snacks.!!!

Its a kind of routine with my family to make those yummy pakoras when the first rains descents!!! Come the rains and we yell out.. !!!

The theme for this month is MONSOON's and here' my take on this lovely time of the year!!! I have depicted a jungle party kind of fun in the monsoon season!

Here's the card!

I have made the base clouds with the distress inks (which by the way you'll with the widest variety at our store IMAGINATIONS) and then fussy cutted some hand drawn clouds and did a faux stitching !
I then stamped some cute animal stamps from Lawn Fawn Citters in the Savana set and fussy cutted them too!

Here's a littls closeup of the animals!!!

I hope that you all liked this card and we would love to see your creativity take a bloom in this 3rd challenge at imaginations !!!

Happy Crafting!!

Rain or shine

 Hi peeps,

Hope you are enjoying the monsoon. I am definitely enjoying the same. Its been raining here in Mumbai. A lovely weather to have a hot cuppa tea and some garam garam bhajias.

Well, the theme for this month is "Anything goes with Monsoon". I have always wanted to try making a shaped card and I thought this was a good opportunity to make one. And so I made an umbrella shaped card. The sentiment is a free digi.

Hope you like it.

Looking forward to seeing your creations.

Enjoy the monsoons.
